Dickensian Christmas Carol Service

On the evening of 5th December 2022 over 350 people joined us for a ‘Dickensian Christmas Carol Service’ at the Priory Church of St Bartholomew the Great in London. Singing carols by candlelight in London’s oldest parish church certainly got everyone in the Christmas spirit. The mulled wine and mince pies helped too!

We filled the church and raised approximately £10k on behalf of the Victoria Cohen Eye Cancer Charitable Trust. This money will count towards a Victoria Cohen Scholarship. Each year the charity awards the Scholarship to an aspiring ocular oncologist in need of financial support throughout their fellowship.

Please note the deadline for applications for the 2023/24 award is the 31st March 2023.

The winner of the Victoria Cohen Scholarship 2024 is Dr. Sayed Mansoor Sediqi from the University Eye Teaching Hospital, Kabul, Afghanistan.

The Victoria Cohen Eye Cancer Charitable Trust is grateful to Jeremy Hunt MP for his support as Patron. Victoria knew Jeremy as a friend and would have welcomed his efforts to raise awareness of the need for more ocular oncologists in the world.

Dr. Vijitha Vempuluru, winner of the first Victoria Cohen Scholarship, now works at the LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India. Here she provides an update on her work in ocular oncology since completing her fellowship at the Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia, USA.
