The Victoria Cohen scholarship for aspiring ocular oncologists

One award of US$30,000 made each year to support someone applying for, or currently undertaking, an ocular oncology fellowship anywhere in the world.

Who can apply?

YOU CAN APPLY IF:

  • You are a registrar or resident in ophthalmology
  • You are applying for an ocular oncology fellowship at a recognised centre of excellence for the study of ocular oncology
  • You are in need of financial assistance to be able to complete your fellowship

Schedule

All candidates who apply before the deadline of 31st December 2024 will be informed by email if they have been included in the shortlist no later than 31st January 2025.

Shortlisted candidates will have until 28th February 2025 to submit additional information required, please see ‘How to Apply’.

Interviews will be conducted in March 2025 and an offer for the Scholarship made no later than the end of that month.

Subject to the judging panel being satisfied that all the conditions of the award have been met, funds will be sent to the successful applicant in two instalments, on 1st July 2025 and 1st January 2026.

If the fellowship is terminated for any reason before these dates payment will be withheld.

The Victoria Cohen Scholarship is awarded annually. The deadlines remain the same in each calendar year.

The deadline for applications for the next award is 31st December 2024, at 2300 UTC.

How to apply

In the first instance, complete the application form. We will contact you by email to let you know the status of your application. If you are shortlisted we will ask you to provide the following:
  • A CV including a list of publications.
  • A letter from the fellowship supervisor indicating your preliminary acceptance, tentative fellowship dates, and plan.
  • A letter or reference that comments on how your fellowship will benefit ocular oncology clinical care or research endeavours in your country.
  • A one-page personal statement, outlining your prior experience in ophthalmology and ocular oncology, your reasons for pursuing the fellowship, and your long term plans.
  • A brief description (max 200 words) on how you expect to interact with the Victoria Cohen Eye Cancer Charitable Trust after you have completed your fellowship.
